Philosophy – There are many ways to swing the club and play this game. Anyone can turn on the TV to the latest tour event to see players’ swings and techniques can appear very different. With over 23 years of providing golf instruction, I have found a set of core principles present in the more effective motions. Better swings have eliminated wasted movements and compensations which require a need for acute timing and manipulation. Better swings are more efficient and easier to repeat which provides more consistency and control with less effort. These core principles are:
- Pre-Shot Positions; grip, stance, posture and alignments
- Swing Center; The motion should work around a stationary center
- Radius; Extension of arms and location of low point
- Synchronization; Arm/Hands/Club assembly and pivot need to synchronize
- Geometry; plane angle, plane line, arc of approach
- Release pattern; Hand and Hinge actions to control clubface and ball flight
Our philosophy is to help students understand these core principles and work through the instruction process with education, video, drills, and teaching aids. A student must first have a clear understanding of what and why we must adjust in order to improve their motion. This allows the mind and body to begin the process of change.
